Quanzhou Marionette Troupe China was established in 1952. The troupe's objective remained to spread the art of traditional string puppets.

Based on the spirit of inheriting and saving of ancient puppet art, the troupe has made revolutionary changes and creations. From puppet modeling, image creating, string arranging and controlling, stage formatting to program themes, forms as well as contents, the troupe has put great effort on enrich the shows' communicative power and improving their own performing techniques. By presenting their original legendary drama, <Shui Man Jin Shan>, and children's play, <Qing Feng Shou>, the group performing second class award (which does not have the first class award) and a silver medal were acquired from "2nd Bu Jia Le Si Te Guo Ji Mu Ou Lian Huan Jie" in Romania. Their participation in "Qing Zhu Jian Guo San Shi Zhou Nian Xian Li Yan Chu" in Beijing with their legendary story, <Huo Yan Shan>, and fairy tale, <Qian Tao Yan>, attained the first class award for performance and the third class award for original creation. The troupe had been invited to Beijing for several times to take part in different performing festivals and functions, as well as the important activities organized by Central TV Station, such as "Zong Yi Da Guan", "Chun Jie Lian Huan Wan Hu".

Since 1960, after the Cultural Revolution, the troupe was invited several times to perform or to participate in different international cultural exchange activities in different countries. The places they had visited include Romania, Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Singapore, the Netherlands, Taiwan, France, Switzerland, Korea, England, Iraq, Yemen, UAE, Oman, Malaysia, Spain, Germany, America, Australia, Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark, and many other districts. Hundreds of media of these countries have interviewed them. Wherever they go, unlimited praises are gained.

There are altogether 60 members in the troupe. They are divided in traditional art team, youth art team, music team, art production workshop, art creative workshop and office. The troupe is also backed by artists of three different generations, whom are represented by the international famous string puppeteer, Huang Yique, and the tradition "Ba Gu Pan". Their original stage designs, "Tian Jiao Gao Tai Shi", "Ren Ou Tong Tai Shi" as well as the relevant dramas are used. It can be observed that the troupe have not only good scripts, excellent performing techniques, but have also outstanding team members. This is the reason why they can meet requirements of different performances in and outside China.
