UNIMA-CHINA
(UNIMA stands for Union Internationale de la Marionnette), founded in 2002's,
is an international non-government organization formed by the puppeteers.
Later, UNIMA has affiliated to UNESCO and become the UNIMA today.
Complying with UNESCO, UNIMA-CHINA, one of the national centres of
UNIMA, is the member country of the United Nations and has set up
the national centre in China with more than 10 Committee Members to
deal with the job of UNIMA in China.
UNIMA----CHINA, situated in Guangzhou, has set up in 2001, in which
there are 12 founding Board of Directors (see the diagram below).
The General Secretary of UNIMA-CHINA is Mr. Li Yu Chao, Director of
China Guangdong Puppet Troupe, while the President of UNIMA-CHINA
is Mr. Xie Qi Guang, the General Manager of The Puppet Art Troupe
of China. Now, there are about 600 members of UNIMA-CHINA. The Director
of Ming Ri Institute For Arts Education Mr. Wong Tim Keung Simon is
also one of the founding Board of Directors. The establishment of
UNIMA-CHINA is to fulfill the purpose of cultural and art exchange,
learning and progressing among the puppeteers. With the advantages
of the perfect communication system and the accessible transportation
network, International Puppetry Cultural Exchange Centre, subordinate
to Ming Ri Institute For Arts Education, acts as a partner with UNIMA-CHINA
to give impetus to the puppet arts exchange activities between China
and the Western countries.
