"Ming
Ri Institute for Arts Education" has been set up in 2002
after renaming from "Ming Ri Theatre Company". Having
experienced different stage of attempt --- the amateur drama
group "Anonymity Dramatic Club" in 1984 and Hong Kong's
first professional children theatre company "Ming Ri Theatre
Company" in 1996, the institute has been developed to a
non-profit-making charitable organization emphasizing the importance
of both arts and education in the 21st century.
We
deeply believe that the art of drama is a key element to cultivate
creativity, ability of problem solving, abstract thinking and
the sense of cooperation. All these are the characteristics
of a "all-rounded person". It is essential for the
educational reform in the 21st century. The key element includes
several aspects namely the requirements of learning to learn,
learning in creativity, life-wide learning and lifelong learning,
which can be fostered by artistic activities and art education.
Arts are the social need in the high educational standard and
rich community. It is also what people long for when they are
satisfied by the basic necessities and hope to enhance their
creativity and improve their living qualities.
Ming Ri Institute
for Arts Education provides services about arts and education
through her subordinate organizations which are: "Ming
Ri Theatre", "Arts Education Centre", "Puppet
School", "International Puppetry Arts Exchange Centre".
"Ming Ri
Theatre", the well-known children theatre group in the
field in Hong Kong, will continue to provide the marvelous children
performances.
"Arts Education
Centre" --- Continued from our preceding schemes, for instances,
"Teachers' Training Courses", "Integrating Curriculum
by Arts Education" and "Aesthetic Education",
the Centre will introduce the art of drama into the schools
to inspire the creativity of the students and stimulate the
educational reform in the schools.
"Puppet
School" and "International Puppetry Arts Exchange
Centre", the emerging subordinating organizations, are
responsible for the systematic learning system of puppetry and
the puppetry art exchange programmes between China and the foreign
countries respectively. This can further develop the children
puppetry art in Hong Kong.
The birth of the institute that belongs to the field of culture
and arts, as well as the field of education is one of the strategies
and responses for the challenging world. Still, we deeply believe
our objective remaining unchanged in this ever-changing world.
The objective is: -
