China Puppet Art Troupe was established in 1955. It is divided into Puppet Showing Troupe, China Puppet Theatre, Beijing Wonderful Puppet-making Centre and Art Training Department.

Within 40 years, the Puppet Showing Troupe has created and performed about 300 kinds of various puppet shows. The Puppet Showing Troupe has widespread dealings and profound friendship with different parts of the world by having shown abroad and participating international gathering in the puppetry artistic field. The Troupe won the "Grant performing Award" and the "Top Honors" in the 7th Hungary's International Puppet Festival, and "The Best Arts Prize" and "Children's Choice Prize" in the 11th Yugoslav's International Puppet Festival.

China's Puppet Theatre is now the only professional for puppet showing in China. Equipped with advanced lights, sounds and other professional facilities. It occupies an area of 5,000 square meters, holds 610 seats and a 1,650 square meters entertaining hall. In addition to the Chinese traditional puppet performances and shows from other countries, other activities, such as dramatics, song and dance, Quyi, acrobatics in films, can also be put on the theatre.
